"A sip from the past, while looking to the future."
This is our philosophy in ten words. It is to tell the story of our region through the salvaging of ancient varieties that are inextricably linked to the tradition of Tuscan wine, specifically in the area of Bolgheri.
Valente and Dinostro are the concrete results of our mission to return to our origins.
The grapes, which are cultivated using only natural methods, are meticulously cared for during all phases of growth, with particular attention given to the period of maturation.
They are vinified in the winery using indigenous yeasts.
Dinostro is a Sangiovese, while Valente is an expression of Tuscan grape history: it is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Ciliegiolo Foglia Tonda and Pugnitello. These varieties have practically disappeared from local winemaking.
Both are aged for a period of approximately one year in 20-hectolitre barrels.
Giving vitality to a forty-year-old vineyard was our dream and is our current project.
Our vineyards are the tangible evidence of a deep-rooted tradition, and the afore-mentioned varieties are now at the centre of a recovery operation with the capacity to demonstrate their potential quality.
Podere Castellaccio values history, tradition and this environment of unique "terroir.”
